All in all, VR feels better, is more fun and definitely worth it, but makes for a less competitive setup than an Ultrawide monitor with TrackIR or other head tracking. I also feel hitting ground targets is more difficult when using things that are not bombs. So things like the F-4C you are restricted to only listening for pings and locks, and don't get directions. This means only using the cockpit screens which is not a big deal for the radar, but it is annoying that not all cockpits have an RWR screen modelled and that is linked to the same settings. I've heard people sing the praise of VR, and there are some concrete VR-only advantages in simulator (VR users get infinite spotting range on. Picking out targets along the ground I feel is noticeably more difficult and trying to zoom in feels horrible in VR. I also played DCS in VR with that setup and was just able to eek out enough frames - DCS environments seemed lower res than WT, but the insides of the planes seemed higher quality than WT at the time. I ran medium on WT and default on anything Oculus and it was fine with my 2080. I rarely had the “nose or tail” problem you talk about, and also never messed with graphics. WT seems to do this thing where enemies within X distance appear as black dots at range - making it easy to see planes, but they don’t “crisp up” into their actual shape until you’re much closer.

Maybe once I upgrade my graphics card it’ll be easier with maximum graphics settings. I play on medium/high settings to ease the strain on my dying R9 280x though. I never had a problem spotting enemies, only IDing them. I haven’t found any filters that ease VR spotting but it’s already very easy with headsets due to the resolution. So I started WT VR back in the day with a Rift 365. Visibility for large objects houses, rocks, hills is calculated on the server side.
